Our Brewmaster, Sean Hoyne, and his award winning handcrafted beers, are renowned in the Pacific Northwest.

Sean has over 17 years experience as a Brewmaster and is committed to producing exceptional beers to the highest purity standards, using time-honoured traditions.

With an Applied Science degree from Vanier College and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia University, Sean began his brewing career with a formal apprenticeship under the watchful tutelage of well-respected Brewmaster Frank Appleton. Sean spent four years as Brewmaster at the Vancouver Island Brewery and five years as a brewery industry consultant before joining CANOE.

Sean has been CANOE's Brewmaster since its opening in 1996. He has worked hard to develop signature recipes that emulate some of the great beers of Europe.

Sean's reputation and growing legend amongst beer aficionados is such that CANOE has become the location where other brewmasters come to drink good beer.
